Squeak was purchased from another breeder in order to join the Yankee gang as part of the foundation stock. Since arriving, he has undergone vet exams and medical screenings to ensure he is a health-verified stud dog.
I use a software program to keep track of various types of information and health evaluations as they occur for each dog at Yankee Cotons. If you click HERE you can see Squeak’s photos, stats, most of his health history and pedigree as well. Every time I add a new vet visit or test result it automatically updates for the viewer.
When Squeak first arrived he was extremely shy, however, over the past year he has become much more outgoing. While he’s still not fond of cuddling and plays the approach/avoidance dance with me, he appears content in his surroundings. He is very much his own man. He does however appreciate attention and being close.

Certifications by OFA (Orthopedic Foundation for Animals)
OFA recommends a variety of health exams and screenings based on each breed. Below are OFA (Orthopedic Foundation for Animals’) certificates for various DNA tests recommended for the coton de tulear. Or, if you prefer, you can go to OFA.org to see the results there for verification.

Evaluating Hip Dysplasia Using PennHip
One of the most common evaluations done by OFA are x-rays of hips to determine if hip dysplasia is an issue. While many breeders use OFA vets to evaluate their dogs, I prefer to use PennHip because it uses more objective data rather than just a vet’s opinion of the x-rays. You can see Squeak’s hip results HERE if you click on the “details” tab.
